Nerd Herd Books is Rise Out’s new online forum for students 13+ who like to read and talk about books. Our first summer group will focus on fiction about teens dealing with mental illness.
Over the course of eight weeks we will collectively read three novels about characters with mental illnesses or learning differences and how their daily lives are affected by these challenges. Each week you will be asked to respond to one of several discussion questions relating to the portion of the book we’ve just read. Some of the questions will be directly related to the material; others will relate to the overarching theme of the book club.
Discussion questions are intended to be starting points for conversation. You are encouraged to go beyond this by responding to other participants, and by asking questions of your own!
