Rise Out gives small scholarships to students to cover the cost of activities, classes, self-designed projects, and education-related incidentals. To qualify for a scholarship, you must:
- Have developed a personal learning plan, and be receiving ongoing support through Rise Out;
- Be financially eligible, and
- Complete a short application, explaining how the activity fits into your educational goals.
Available scholarships include:
Class & Activity Scholarships
These scholarships cover the cost of fees and tuition for community college classes or non-credit classes and enrichment activities. You may apply for more than one, but unfortunately we can’t guarantee funding for all proposals.
You’ve designed a cool project, but now you need some money to get it off the ground. These grants cover the first hundred dollars of a self-designed project that can be justified through your personal learning plan. Examples: launching a web site, building a home art studio, starting your own business, making a documentary, creating a zine or literary journal, developing a charity project
Don’t you hate it when you get all your ducks in a row, and then your entire life unravels because you lack one small but key thing, like a monthly bus pass, or money to buy your textbooks? Each semester Rise Out sets aside some funding to cover small emergencies like these.
Do you need a computer? Rise Out occasionally receives gifts of used-but-functional laptops and desktop computers. We distribute these to students with financial need on a first-come, first-served basis.
