Sprechen Sie Deutsch?
German Club is a cultural club open to students who want to learn more about German culture and the German language. We welcome students at all levels, from fluent speakers to absolute beginners. Each week we will host discussions (in English!) about German movies, German art and music, German history and politics, and current events in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. We will also practice speaking German at a level tailored to the abilities of the participants.
Are you interested in learning German, but haven’t been able to find an affordable class? Laura has created a first-year German course using free, high-quality online materials. Paired with the speaking practice we do in German Club, this can be a great way for self-directed students to earn a year of foreign language credit at no cost.
The club is co-facilitated by Laura, Rise Out’s Director, who is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Germany and currently lives in Berlin, and Jemella, a former Rise Out student who recently earned her BA in German Studies.
All students taking at least one Rise Out class this year are invited to participate.
